Guests came out enmasse on Sunday 10, December at The Event Centre,Ikeja, Lagos for the second edition of Mother Drum Arts Festival initiated by top female drummer, Ayanbinrin (Oluwatosin Olakanye Olayemi). MODAFEST is an NGO conceived by Ayanbinrin (The most exciting female talking drummer in Africa) with the objective of employing the Arts: music,dance,theatre,poetry,photography,drum etc to promote the cultural values of the African people at home and in the diaspora through Workshops, Trainings, Seminas, Festivals, Tours, Conferences, Awards and other similar windows.

In 2012, the maiden edition of the Mother Drum Arts Festval/MDG Awards was launched and it was dedicated to women. This year marked their first anniversary and 11 awards were given during the celebration to honour people who have positively contributed in using the arts to promote the cultural values of the African people.
The recipient for this year awards includes Mrs. Taiwo Ajai lycett(performing Arts),Dr. Orlando Julius Ekemode(music),Dayo Liadi(Dance),Kunle Afolayan(filmmaking),pa. J.D Okhai Ojeikere(Photography). At the occasion, there was a lot of arts displays from Ghana, Cotonou, South African and Nigeria. In guests attendance were prominent people in the arts like Tunde Kelani, Taiwo Ajai Lycett etc.
