The Ugly Incidents at Funke Akindele's Wedding
If Funke and her man wanted to prevent the media and the public from intruding their wedding, according to what a close relation of the groom told us, then should their invited guests bear the brunt?
Without beating about the bush, no matter the accolades that have been trailing the wedding between actress Funke Akindele and her man, Kenny Almaroof which held over the weekend, not mentioning some disappointing and disgraceful incidents at the event will be tantamount to paying the couple particualarly Funke a mere eyes service.
It was so unbelieveable that Funke deliberately had the printer put a wrong venue on her wedding Invitation Cards and left her guests to figure out the venue themselves.
"If she disclosed the venue on the invitation cards, do you know how rowdy the event will be? All these journalists will also have taken over this place by now. Funke said she doesn't want to see journalists. We don't want a situation whereby some unvited guests will storm the wedding just because they are fans of 'Jenifa'. What she did with that invite is the only way we can keep the event from being rowdy.", the anonymous relation of the groom said.
Nollywood style, did you say? But it actually happened in reality at Funke Akindele's wedding. Most of the guests had earlier thronged the premises of the "All Seasons Plaza" which was printed on the Invite as the venue of the wedding only to discover that no wedding was taking place there. We could not help but noticed the sad and frustrated countenance of a gaily dressed aged couple who claimed to have traveled down for the wedding all the way from Akure, Ondo state. The husband looked so disappointed as he made frantic calls to ascertain what was wrong while the wife adjusted her goggle and fixed her gaze on the stylish Invite on her hand to double check if she and her husband actually read the information on it correctly.
"What kind of unseriousness is this, I hear some people recived a text message yesterday notifying them of a change of venue, what sort of thing is this? I'm afraid I have to go home," a guest who had come for the event burst out.
We also discovered that the the Wedding Program-printed by the same company that designed the Invite-carried the real address attesting to our source's statement that the whole thing was pre-calculated by the couple.
These sorts of i-dont-care and misleading move ofcourse can only be owing to the fact that the actress knows there are more than enough people who will love to be at her wedding due to her status in Nollywood, therefore she can afford to undermine her guests by putting up such unreasonable decoy.
It clearly explained why Funke who was allegedly becoming a wife-number-2 to Al-Moroof earlier announced to everyone that she was only having a small family introduction and that the wedding proper was coming up later in the December, not knowing that she was already planning a grand wedding consisting of muslim Nikkah, traditional and white wedding in a few days time.
For the guests who managed to find out the real venue, what they met at The Haven event center could best be described as hell. The battalion of armed mobile police officers (MOPOL)at the venue didn't help matters as they harrassed many of the guests, especially persistent photojournalists who try to take shots. Guns were pointed at guests every now and then at will as they roughly search the guests. We witnessed atleast two journalists whose phones and cameras were seized while the policemen manhandled them. The phones of popular comedian, AY, was also seized at a point. The bride had earlier warned that she didn't want to see any journalist at her wedding, and this leaves one wondering if that was not the same Funke Akindele whom at the infancy of her career was going from one media house to another seeking publicity. But today, journalists to Funke Akindele have now become a plague to avoid. At the event, Funke Akindele was occasionally seen dishing
out instructions to MOPOL to deal with those she considers intruder, and one wonders what kind of woman will act like this on her special day.
