LIZ DA SILVER’S HUBBY, AKEEM SODIQ BURIES MUM

Husband of Togo-born Yoruba actress Liz Da Silver, Akeem Sodiq on Sunday 13th of May 2012 buried his mother Alhaja Morenike Sodiq who died at the age of 64 after complaining of a brief illness before she finally gave up the ghost on 17th of March 2012 and she was buried the following day according Islamic rite. In an event which took place at Sam Sonibare Community Center, Off Ogunlana Drive, Lawanson Lagos, Akeem threw a befitting party for the final burial of his mother and it was a memorable event. Unarguably, public figures don’t have privacy no matter how much they attempt to conceal themselves from the public. This was what best illustrate the situation at the event as the actress and her hubby who tried all they could to hide the event from public due to reasons best known to them, still manage to attract few top celebrities to the event. The event was done in a low profile but glamorous manner with much glitz. In a gathering like this, many actors and actresses would have been expected to storm the occasion but it was rather unfortunate that few faces of movie practitioners were seen at the event. Among them were Mukar Ray, Henrietta Kosoko, Funke Adeshiyan, Gbenga Oyeyiga, Dapo Ali Balogun, Bimbo Thomas, Ope Olusanya, Ireti Osayemi, Taiwo Adebayo, Bimbo Success, Lolade Abuta and Yetude popularly known as “Up to You” were the Yoruba movie stars at the burial, while the Jerry Band was at the occasion to electrify the guests. For the fact that there was no much announcement about the event, the auditorium and its premises were fully occupied with people. Sumptuous meals and choice drinks were bountiful but for a selected few while many others were ignored for unknown reasons. The absence of Liz Da Silver’s Nollywood best friend, Iyabo Ojo at the event was another amazing topic on the lips of almost everyone at the occasion when she was no where to be found amidst the Yoruba Movie stars at the event. If you are very conversant with the news making the rounds about the actresses, it will be recall that few months back, it was reported that the actress Liz Da Silver and Iyabo Ojo were at loggerhead though Iyabo bluntly debunked it that there was nothing of such nature, that it was a misunderstanding and they’ve resolved it. Iyabo, we gathered, was not even aware of the event let alone of attending and this could simply mean that things are still not as rosy as they were between the two.
